  • Take the ferry to the Isle of Bute to visit the historic Mount Stuart House
  • Explore the Duke of Argyll’s castle & grounds at Inveraray
  • Enjoy delicious catered meals!

The ThomasTelford bridge at Dunans castle was built in 1815 and has provided access to the site ever since. AiP jammers have worked for five years to repair the bridge walls & domes along the roadway and complete repointing of the two outside arches.

It’s now time to take on the central great arch! Join us for this final step in the conservation of Dunans beautiful Gothic-style bridge.

Argyll will be showing its early fall colors, enhanced by miles of stunning coastline. Immerse yourself in this remarkable backdrop as you help complete conservation of the unique A-listed bridge.

Each week, we will have 1 ½ days of touring and 4 1/2 days of learning and working on the bridge. Work begins at 9:15 am with a discussion of the day’s tasks and demonstration of skills as needed. There are breaks for tea and lunch; work ends about 5pm.

Airport pickup is provided on Saturday, September 5 and 12. Arrival time at the airport must be prior to 3pm on Saturday.

Pickup is also available at hotels in the historic center of Glasgow if you arrive early and are staying in the city center.

The shuttle leaves for Dunans at 3pm.

Airport drop off is provided on Saturday, September 12 and 19. Drop off is at 11 am, so schedule your departing flight accordingly.

September in western Scotland brings equal chance of mild Sunny days or rainy days. Daytime highs average around 68°F with lows averaging about 45°F.

Rain gear is essential. Plan to bring waterproof/water resistant shoes, and waterproof jacket and pants. A waterproof hat may be helpful in addition to the jacket hood.

A down vest or down sweater, to wear over a sweatshirt and/or sweater and under your rain jacket, works best for cool, rainy days. Sturdy close-toed shoes are required. You may want to dress up a bit for visits to the village and other site seeing, but plan for comfort.
